Many people love playing Fortnite on iPhones and iPads, a fun and exciting game made by Epic Games. But something happened recently between Apple v. Fortnite: Apple has blocked Fortnite games. Means players in the U.S. and even in some parts of Europe can’t download or play Fortnite on their Apple devices right now.
What happened?
Epic Games tried to put Fortnite back on the iOS games App Store (that is the Apple store where people get games and apps). They also wanted to make it available through their own Epic Games Store in Europe.
But guess what?
Apple has blocked Fortnite games from going live in both places.
Why did Apple block It?
Here’s a little backstory. A few years ago, in 2020, Epic Games put a special payment system in the Fortnite app. This let people buy stuff in the game without using Apple’s normal way. Apple didn’t like that and removed Fortnite from the App Store.
After a long court fight, a judge said Apple can’t stop developers from offering other ways to pay. So, Epic Games tried again. This time, they gave players two choices:
- Buy things through Apple’s payment system (the regular way)
- Or use the Epic Games Store, where players could earn rewards and get 20% back on what they spent
But even with this setup,
Apple has blocked Fortnite games again.
Apple hasn’t said any reason yet. Maybe they think the new payment option still breaks the rules somehow. We’ll have to wait and see.
What about europe?
In the European Union (EU), new rules say Apple must allow other app stores on their devices. That means people in Europe could use the Epic Games Store for iOS games like Fortnite.
But now what happened is even in Europe also players can’t open Fortnite.
Apple has blocked Fortnite games from working there too.
So it’s not just in the U.S.—Fortnite on iOS is offline all over the world.
What should players think?
If you try to download or play Fortnite on your iPhone or iPad, it won’t work right now. This is because
Apple has blocked Fortnite games, so the app is not allowed in the store.
This is really sad for fans who love Fortnite. Many kids, teens, and even adults enjoy building forts, dancing, and battling with friends in the game. But until Apple changes its mind, Fortnite will stay offline on iPhones and iPads.
