Ratan Tata, the legendary industrialist and former chairman of Tata Sons, has passed away today, October 10, 2024, at the age of 86. His death marks the end of an era for Indian business and philanthropy, as he was widely admired for transforming the Tata Group into a global powerhouse during his tenure.

Born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai, Ratan Tata came from a distinguished Parsi family. He took over the leadership of the Tata Group in 1991, guiding the company through significant challenges and expanding its global footprint. Notably, under his leadership, the group’s revenues surged from $5 billion to over $100 billion.

Beyond business, Tata was known for his philanthropic work, particularly through the Tata Trusts, which focused on healthcare, education, and rural development. He was also honored with India’s second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan.
