India is witnessing a revolution in the telecom sector and hence this struggling state-owned telecommunications provider-Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL)has also revamped themselves to compete with their private counterparts. For years lagging behind narrow nifty private competitors, BSNL is now all set with eye-catching modern infrastructure and broadened service horizons apted by a fresh brand outlook. It is all part of a transformation designed to help the biggest homegrown retailer fend off eroding market share by establishing itself as a digital leader in an e-commerce world.
1. Theoretical 5G Rollout and Network Upgrades. The biggest change is related to BSNL planning its 5G debut. BSNL is working on the infrastructure to start its 4G and 5G services post an ₹89047Ccr revival package by Indian govt in year2022.
2. BSNL is moving forward in the digital transformation by offering best of breed services including BSNL Cloud, A data backup and storage platform. The company is also preparing to launch Internet of Things (IoT) services on its network, as it looks to build out a portfolio that can cater for the increasing presence of smart devices and connected ecosystems.
The efforts indicate BSNL´s eagerness to remain in the game, which has gotten very high stakes- on a level moving closer and nearer towards route between Vodafone Idea vs Jio. Planned 5G rollout, better rural connectivity and competitive broadband offerings, if combined with enhanced customer experience is set to deliver the right recipe for a potential big return of BSNL.
