Good news for Ford fans. Ford is in discussions with the Tamil Nadu government regarding the possibility of manufacturing electric vehicles (EVs) at its plant in Chennai. This marks Ford’s potential return to India after exiting the domestic market in 2021. Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa mentioned that although the specifics are still under consideration, the trend among recent investors in the region points toward Ford exploring EV production.
The plant, which was shut down during Ford’s exit, could be repurposed to focus on producing EVs for export markets. This move aligns with India’s increasing emphasis on EV adoption and manufacturing, and it would potentially give Ford a strong foothold in the growing EV industry in India.
